Researcher Development Office also offers one-on-oneonline, and group researcher development support sessions to help postgraduate researchers reach their potential as efficient researchers.

This confidential support mechanism aims to encourage learning, action and change by giving the opportunity to Koç University researchers to talk to someone from outside of their academic department.

The sessions are offered by the Researcher Development Coordinator, Dr Seda Akçakoca and they are private and confidential. They are available during term time and outside of term time.

The office is using an online appointment scheduling site via which researchers can choose among the three support session types. Researchers then are asked to select from the list of topics that they would like to discuss during their sessions or create their own new topic.

ONE-TO-ONE Researcher Development Support and Coaching

During these sessions, Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework (RDF) is used as a tool to map researchers’ current needs and future drives, allowing them to act upon their individual development plan.

Personality inventories as an analytical reporting system are also used in these sessions, which demonstrate researchers’ personality traits, competencies, sources of motivation, potentials, and stress coping mechanisms.

The aim is to address the whole person, not just the cognitive part by fostering self-awareness and insight into researchers’ unique researcher development experiences. At the end of these sessions, researchers have a clarity of vision in terms of what is desired from their view, are able to have more informed choices, and can act upon their goals.

ONLINE One-to-One Researcher Development Support and Coaching

GROUP Researcher Development Support and Coaching

This is an extension of the one-on-one coaching process allowing a confidential and safe space for conversationreflection and peer learning.

You might want to consider taking group coaching if you have a shared agenda and expectation with your researcher friends at Koç. In this setting, you will be able to create a joint support for focusing on the group goal, achievement and celebration. In the meantime, you will still have the chance to work on your individual goals.

By being part of a peer learning process, group coaching will keep you on track and motivated. The office is pretty flexible in the formation of such support; i.e. it can be done in one or several group meetings; it can be face-to-face or online; or combination of both. As long as the shared goal is under the researcher development field, the office is happy to assist you.
